Pure Ice Rio, {more layering}

2 coats of Pure Ice Rio layered over 2 thin coats of Claire's Matte Green

When I did my My Favorite Polish's post I had every Pure Ice Polish I have worn on there, but no photos, and I made a note to work on wearing those polish's. Pure Ice is an American polish Exclusive to Walmart USA, {they do have a website where you can order from}.

The entire collection is very wearable, there doesn't seem to be any negative buzz on the formula or colours either. I wish we had these in Canada! Is there any dud's in the current Pure Ice collection?

Anyhoo- this is Pure Ice Rio, which is a raspberry jelly base with mesmerizing flecks of ......flecks that flash blue, green purple and white-ish silver. I layered it over a medium green. I am pretty sure layering this over anything would be beautiful.

Claire's Poison Apple

Claire's Poison Apple, 3 thin coats with 1 coat of Nailene TC layered over a golden chrome polish. I feel a little disappointed with this polish, even though it is very pretty, I wish it did not have the boring base colour it does. In some lighting it looks like a run-of-the-mill mulberry/red shade. In many lighting conditions the golden/copper duo-chrome flakes look fabulous.

This polish; Claire`s Candy Apple, as well as Claire`s Venomous dried very fast. The effect in both of these polish's is very pretty & I recommend layering them over an opaque base.

For underware I chose Sally hansen Chrome in Gilded Pearl Chrome. This had no effect at all on the final colour and finish of Claire's Candy Apple, I just wanted to reduce the appearance of bare spots and the amount of coats of Candy Apple that I would use. The photo below is 2 coats with NO TC.

Here is Claire`s Candy Apple, layered over Sally Hansen Gilded Pearl Chrome. My thumb is 1 thick coat, the rest of my nails are 1 coat each of varying thickness.... the only photo I have to show the transparency of Poison Apple.

These next two photos are interesting, its amazing that this is even the same polish! The one immediately below is a photo directly under my light source.....

.... and this one is less than 8 inces away from my light source! = weird, but pretty♥

Excellence in Layering, Pure Ice Oh Baby layered over Wet n' Wild Disturbia

This is sooooooooo pretty, Pure Ice Oh baby is a lovely, lovely polish. This is 3 thin coats layered over Wet n Wild Disturbia. No TC. I love these flecked duo-chrome polish's from Pure Ice- there are several sparsely flecked Duo-Chromes such a s Rio, Oh Baby and another jelly-ish blue one  (Heart-Breaker, maybe).

And of course |I cant talk about department store fleck-ey duo-chromes without mentioning N.Y.C. Love Letters, if you don't have that YOU NEED IT ASAP!

below; NYC Love Letters
From N.Y.C. POLISH

Here is a few more pic's, this is really really pretty and I think I may add another coat of the Pure Ice Oh baby.

Claire's Venomous

Claire's Venomous, 3 coats layered over 2 coats of Claire's Matte Cobalt with 2 coats of Nailene TC. Ring Nail is 3 or 4 coats of Claire's Venomous ( I forgot how many coats....oops! )

Claire's Venomous is a lovely fleck-duo-chrome with a jelly teal base. I meant to layer this over a teal or green polish but for some-reason I applied this over a dark blue polish.... The base on this is a teal, so I thought it would really look its best layered over a teal... next time lol.

I picked up Candy Apply, and left behind Evil Queen, because it sorta looked like and random dark purple with Pure Ice Bused layered over it. I have already painted my nails with a dark purple and pure ice busted and its drying as I type this.
I HATE buying Claire's polish if it isn't on the 10 for $10 rack or not at half price ( it is reg $5.75 CAD ) even at BOGO it is still over priced.

any-hoo Here is a few ore photos for you - no sunshine unfortunately, but this type of duo-chrome polish does it's best work under crappy lighting conditions anyway. I ♥ duo-chromes!

TOP nail is 3 or 4 coats of Claire's Venomous

ALSO: I found some of those micro-beads at the Dollar-Rama ( Canada), They are a small portion in a tiny bottle - it should be interesting to see what I can some up with for nail art with these...... ( there soooooo cute!  look @ those lil' corks!!!)

these next 2 photos are enlargeable - the first & second on the left are soooooooo pretty!

I layered Claire's Venomous over a 2 coats of dark blue polish. My ring nail is Claire's Venomous @ 1 coat... this is really sheer and I initially meant to layer Venomous over a green/teal polish.

stylish blogger award and a franken

Thank you to everyone who gave me this award! If you haven't done this already, then you should.

7 things about me? these are sorta boring but all related to nail polish. One BONUS factoid is I think i am the only girl in the western world over 25 without a cellphone - Never have and hopefully will never have to.

  •  I am probably never going to purchase a nail polish over 5 bucks again in my life. It would have to be really really special, because I have found hundreds of bottles of polish that are under 4 dollars in department stores and dollar stores that are fabulous.
  • It seems at least 3 times a week I dream about finding mounds and mounds of fabulous nail polish or I am visiting the USA and I am shopping at the dollar tree and I am buying a tonne of nail polish. Serious. 3 times a week. Its a nice dream but the reality is sometimes torture!
  •  I sometimes want to start a 'harassment campaign' against Sally Hansen so they release Nail Prisms in Diamond ( silver linear holographic/prismatic) 2 or 3 of the stronger duo-chromes and a flakie like Hidden Treasure but in the X-treme Wear collection, or even the Hard as Nails line. Considering all the recent things they have added to their brand I cannot imagine this would be a stretch for them. STOP!!! the world does not need any more pink polish!!!!!!
  • Currently I have 70-ish bottles on my to buy list that are in stores waiting for me.
  •  I am worried to admit how many bottles of nail polish I own
  •  I totally lied about 'getting over' not having my light-bulb ( pic in side bar ) this weekend I am on a mission to find another and I am buying back-ups.
  •   Swatch-a-thons need to be totally spontaneous for me - The last few times I planned nail blog related activities things did not work out - and that is bothersome because I want to contribute as much as possible even though I have a lot of time limits♥
Here is a few photos of a franken I previously wore with Beauties factory nail sticker strips which are no longer available on their site. They do have another choice though, and i think you get more variety with their new product.

I made this franken with Billie White and Claire's Matte Cobalt and a shimmery sand coloured older polish. The white polish I used ate up all the shimmer, but when I began to remove it the shimmery particles were visible on  my nail = weird!

shimmery bits on my artificial nails.... weird!

This look is more of an experiment, I just used clear polish to adhere these stones and the plastic round bubbles. I am trying to see how long it will last with all the household chores and such I have planned for tomorrow. I added a coat of clear over these plastic rhinestones that I picked up at the Dollar-Rama which made them look more like bubbles, rather than crystal-like

I'm loving washed out pastels lately - it matches the gloomy skies of winter in my region. ALSO: a small piece of uncooked spaghetti is the best way to pick up and place rhinestones and other nail art pieces.

lick - pick-up - place

I used a coat of Sally Hansen ceramics clear polish to adhere these stones and the same polish's doused on my nail to hold them in place for the day. Those large black very dimensional round things are plastic doll eyes = creepy!

    marbling?

This was alot of fun, next time I wont use such strong contrasting colours and try something alot more subtle - also NO foil polish, dang that was messy & I will be sure to tape up all my nails !

I can see myself using a subtle water marble as a base for some other nail art. In its own I am not a fan. Unless I can perfect this like MSLP does HERE, then I'll have to skip on this look and stick to the easy stuff.

I started with 3 thin coats of Claire's Matte Grey, then used a plain black, a foil silver and the same grey polish as my base. When I was all finished marbling, I went over some spots with the black and silver & and I added some areas of silver glitter to conceal any air/water bubbles

Claire's Matte Grey 3 coats = the base for my marbling

I should have taped everything ( I did tape up my pinky though )

    2nd attempt.........

    uh, ummmmmmmm....

Nail Stickers and Nailene Black Frenh Tip Pen

I have far too many nail art items that I do not use enough & WOW I did a sloppy acetone clean up and it made the skin surrounding my nails look awful, I much prefer to use moisturizer around my nails, paint, and then hopefully peel it off, especially when wearing pastels....

This is a quick look I did using Nailene black French Tip Pen, Beauties Factory sticker strips and a light greyed out baby blue franken. I like these types of large nail stickers, they are easy to use and pretty. They can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply, or online at Beauties Factory. There is a few eBay stores who sell these types of loooong nail stickers as well.

This was 3 coats of my franken, followed by the nail stickers, the Black french tip pen, and finally Top Coat.

ALSO: Thanks everyone for your comments of my 'Chloe Patchwork Mani', I didn't really appreciate it until the next day, I plan on trying that again.

stuff I used................ un-named greyed out baby blue Franken, beauties Factory Nail Stickers, Nailene French Tip Pen in lack, Nailene Top Coat

I find this easy to apply to my nail this way= instead of cutting them individually, I like to peel a small segment off and 'roll it' onto my nail.

if the stickers over-extend the width of the nail they will peel off pretty quick; my middle nail is good and I made sure to have the TC all the way to the edge of my nail, but my ring nail is already lifting after washing my hands twice

oops! I think I should have added this last week, but this was on sale at Micheal's crafts store for 5 bucks.... I always wanted to try some nail art with those bullion bead things, and that bar glitter is seriously pretty
