♥ Some Funky Glitters ♥

top to bottom, 1 coat.... 2 coats etc.

Claire's Chunky Gold... this is more of a yellow, not gold. All of the Chunky Glitters were on the bargain rack at the Claire's store in my town in spring. I only bought the gold and Silver and now I kinda regret it becuase the snowmen polish ( blue-cross) have released very similar chunky hex glitter polish's in the USA. The silver is very pretty, and although this gold polish is beautiful in it's own way, they yellow tone makes it garish - but still wearable. I have whipped up a few cool frankens with this polish My (DL knock-off ) It was not as difficult to remove as I thought it would be...... other than that not much to say about it.

Below is a franken I made using Claire's Hollywood, a lovely multi-sized holo glitter. I added a small amount of Claire's Magic to this polish, I think it turned out very nice.

A note on making glitter frankens, add colored glitter to polish's that already have glitter in them. It is the FORMULA OF THE POLISH BASE that prevents the glitter from melting or loosing it's color.

This was 2 coats of my franken and on my ring nail is 2 coats layered over NYC China-town. I will likely add some purple or lavender glitter to this in the future.

...and finally a glitter sprinkle mani that was too thick but beautifully glittery.....

Below; before glitter. These are Nailene Natural Wear Artificial nails with the shimmery base # 77359. I added a coat of Sally Hansen Beyond Perfect in Fresh Lavender. Next time I am only doing the glitter sprinkle-ing once... and laying my hands flat instead of up ( duh ) the glitter effect became way to thick.

I tried to find a video on you tube on how to do this... but I could not find one. If anyone has a great tutorial on sprinkling glitter over wet nail polish, let me know ♥

I used and opalescent small square glitter that I found at Micheal's craft store around Easter-time. I did two 'coats' of glitter for this mani - and it ended up being way too thick. I also held my hand up immediately after and the glitter slid around on my nail.... leaving a large bump at my smile-line. So for next time it's only going to be 1 coat of polish, then a sprinkling of glitter, then a coat of clear and finally Top Coat.
.... and there was glitter everywhere

♥ Theme; reds for Rememberance Day ♥

Here are two pretty red polish's. I thought that i should wear some red polish's for Remembrance day. The month of November is also American Diabetes Month, and red ties into these two important issues. Red happens to be the polish colour I wear the least - I never seem to reach for these colors - yet strangely when I do wear them I rave about how awesome they are...... i will whip up a RED SPAM post in the next week or so.

  First up is an un-named Icing by Claire's polish from the Knock-off Alice in Wonderland set I picked up earlier this year  below;

( I have already worn the other red HERE along with that multi-colored  Glitter.... HERE )

It is VERY sheer and borders on a bright pink in some lighting. I am a little disappointed that it is this sheer, actually. I took photos right after I painted, I got right to making some jewelery

Below are 3 rings I made with buttons, and a broach ( black) I am on a jewelery making kick right now. I found the topaz colored button and the clear crystal button in the bargain basket at Fabric-land. The black one is a broach that I never wore becuase it is too heavy, so i glued it to a ring base  ( ring bases are super-hard to come by in my town). I got the black gooey-glue over everything, hopefully I can fix that♥

.....and here is Billie Claret - part of their classy booze collection. This is very sheer, and likely needs 5 coats to get to the bottle shade. I somehow got alot of black fluff in my top coat, so I will definitely add some glitter to this for the remainder of my evening.

♥ Billie Royal & Billie Amethyst ♥

Bille Royal - 3rd version..... 3 thin coats with Nailene TC

There is 3 version of this polish; Billie Royal. This one is my favorite. It is a creamy eggplant, as opposed to the rich vampy earlier versions.Below is a photo of the 1st version;

1st version of Billie Royal

and here is a terrible flash photo of the 1st & 2nd version

All three are very pretty - but i think I like the newest one the best. Anytime the store that carried these get a new shipment, there is at least one of these polish's that looks a little different to me.

3 different versions!

Below; Billie Amethyst.

This is after a day and a half of wear. I have been whipping up some jewelery in the evenings and totally trashed this mani. This is a pretty mulberry shade and is a chrome, so every little flaw shows up when painting. I love chrome polish's, almost every single one I have tried dries fast to a lovely chrome finish - but seeing every little dent and ding in my nail bed ( real or natural ) drives me nutz.

Chrome polish's are great for layereing; either as a base, or freshening up an older mani. I love using chrome finish polish's for sponging! I think I'll have to do an experiment with some base-coats to see how that could help with the imperfections. ( .....................zzzzzzzzz)

It's a Color-Rama-Rama!!!!!!!

Sunrise Sensation 3 coats

Sunrise sensation is fabulous! I though that it would be a boring peach sheer polish - but it is a pearl- shimmer with a subtle golden flash. This is on the top of my list to re-wear when we get some sunshine.

Alot of these older Color-Rama polish's have a great formula, they don't smell gross and they apply well and dry fast! All my photos are indoors, I actually like doing these "swatch-a-thons", I did run out of cotton ballz before I could get to all of the polish's I picked up in my USA 2010 Haul, but I hope to do another "swatch-a-thon" this weekend!

Up first; a few photo's of 'the Spritzers', these are jelly-ish polish's that have sparse glass flecks in them. They are sheer, and need almost 5 coats for opacity. I will be trying out the syrup manicure that Nouvea cheap posted about a few days ago & check out Polish Insomniac's syrup Mani, too. Besides layering, this is a cool way to deal with too-sheer-for-me polish's

Cherry Spritzer - 3 coats

L-R ...... Peach Daiquiri, Orange Spritzer, Berry Spritzer. All 3 or more coats!

Orange Spritzer - 4 coats

Berry Spritzer - 3 coats

I have recently seen this polish below; Cool Blues, on another blog. It is a neat frosty translucent blue, with holographic micro-glitter as well as some glass flecks thrown in. I layered it over black on my middle nail, and think if I wear this as a full manicure I will layer it over a similar shade to the base colour of Cool Blues~ It is a little too sheer for me.

Cool Blues 3 coats - Middle nail 1 coat layered over black

This polish is very sheer, it has a nice icy purple base colour to it = which is nice I don't think I have a sheer polish in this color family for layering so its not a total write off.

Lilac Freeze - Top - 2 coats layered over black, bottom, 3 coats ( this is super-duper-Sheer )

Does anyone know the real name of this polish = It's number is 107. I layered this over Sally Hansen Chrome in Aqua-Marine, as it is somewhat sheer on it's own. I think at 4 to 5 thin coats this polish would be the bottle shade - but i didn't feel like doing 5 coats. I love those chrome polish's - They are fabulous a s a base for layering♥
NO Name # 107; 2 coats layered over Sally Hansen Chrome in Aquamarine

This is a nice glow-ey blue....
Blueberry Surprise, 3 coats with TC

Coco-Motion ( lol ) is an interesting colour. It is brown, but a hint purple-ness shows up in some lighting. There is sparse micro-shimmer and chunky bits of shimmer in this as well.

Coco-motion (lol), 3 coats ~ NO tc

Skittles!

Candy Apple and Apple Martini are very appealing to me. THAT was not a cheesy pun - I really liked these colours. The formula was fabulous and they dried very fast. I have worn candy apple twice on my nails, layering over it in the p.m. and once on my toes...... Its a bright peppy colour.

Fuchsia Fiesta has a subtle blue flash. It is extremely sheer and needed almost 5 coats for opacity.

 Candy Apple - 2 coats w/TC

Apple Martini - 2 coats w/TC

Fuchsia fiesta - 3 coats w/TC

Grape crush is a basic run of the mill purple.....although I do not own a shade of polish even close to it. Just when I think I have every purple I need.......
Grape Crush 3 coats with TC

The finish of this polish is very similar to coco-motion. Although it is sheer, and likely needs to be layered it redeems itself by having a nice base colour and sparse chunks of shimmer.

Grape Spritzer 3 coats no TC (above and below)
- weird lighting to show chunks of shimmer -

These next 2 polish's are what I would say are boring work appropriate shades. Gold-lights is a lovely soft gold, while Spin Around Brown is a neutral buff shade with sparse chunky copper glass flecks.

Gold lights - 3 coats, no TC

Spin Around Brown ( lol ) 2 coats no TC

Spin around Brown is a pretty shade with sparse gold-ish copper-ish flakes

Raspberry Sorbet is a BRIGHT cheerful fuchsia polish that surprisingly only needed 3 coats.

Raspberry Sorbet 3 coats

Mwah-ha-ha The names of some of these Color-Rama polish's are adorable. Tickle-me-pink is  a sheer pink.At 3 coats, there is a tone of bare spots.

♥ Billie Ruby - a pretty shimmery red ♥

This shimmery polish has some slight orange undertones, which made taking photos of it difficult. I try to avoid wearing red polish's, they seem so plain and demure to me. But every once in a while it's nice to wear a bright shimmery red like this. This is a new to me polish, as that awesome store in my town where I buy all these Billie nail polish's has never gotten these colours before ( below). Is there more in this group? The # 08's, anyone spot these in stores?

The two other polish's, Amethyst and Platinum are beautiful chrome finish's with some brush strokey-ness. I'll be wearing those soon.
