~♥~ Nail Polish Haul ~♥~

All my good deeds are paying of for me.... I have been very mindful of 'giving' and so ta-da,I really hit the jackpot at my favorite discount store in town. Below are a few picks of the new polishes I bought, I have quita an arsenal of this brand, with alot of options for frankening. I am really delighted that these polishes dry so fast, At the moment I am rocking a severe high-lighter orange.

If you are planning on using any neon polishes anytime soon, I have 'dicovered' that using a white polish, after a basecoat and before your first coat of color, really, really, brightens your neon, like insanely bright. This would probally be a good thing for any lighter bright polish..... I tried this last night and it turned out amazing!!!! The sun should come out here today, so I am waiting to get some outdoor pc's of the orange color I am wearing.

Also, I learned an awesome tip that i wish I thought of, or knew of at Nixxy's Nails ... What a smart cookie she is!

Anyhoo, on to the photo's of my recent nail haul, yes, I did break my promise of not buying anything till May, but I realy really love these.

~ Here is the insanely retna burning bright polish "Pink Pansy" in the middle, I found two similar, but less 'Day-Glo' bright pnks. I hope to get both of these on my nails STAT,with a real comparison instead of just on my home made swatches. I aplogize for the quality of my photos, but this is really an interm post, and I hope to properlly model these soon

The "Rose" color, is leaning toward a pinky-orange, while the "Fuchia" is an average hot pink.

Top~ Rose, Left~ Pink Pansy, Right~ Fuschia

~ These are some better pic's to see the difference in color... ~

My newest Haul with some other polishes of this 'Billie' Brand (* sigh*)

~ Left to Right ~
~ Blue
~ Blue Skies
~ Green
~ Green Meadows
~ Purple Haze
~ Rose
~ Pink Pansy
~ Fuschia
~ Orange
~ Burning Hot

I am surprised with the naming of some of these new ones I bought, just primary name colors? All the other polishes have names with a little personality, They all went on smoothe and only needed two coats. Only the second-to-last polish pictured here is shiny this is a very pretty burnt orange with shimmer in it, very nice. The last polish is the 'Blue' with a coat of glitter that I also picked up but is not pictured.

On my 'homemade' swatch there is two coats of each polish, with the exception of pink pansy and orange. In the future I will always use a coat or two of a white polish before I use bright colors such as these neons, or any other bright color for that matter.

Here are some pic' form the store, my goodness, I love that store, I am always sad when I go in there and there isn't one lonley polish for me to buy, So yesterday I hit the motherload with these, I restrained myself and only bought 10, but I am going back today to take a closer look at the polishes which are named after wines and spirits (' the booze collection .... ha ha) and will most likely pick up a few more, if there is any left. I tried to get pic's from different angels and get their names also, saving me from typing them out. .

~ "Booze Collection for Spring/Summer" ~

~ I hope thre is one of these' Passion' camel brown polishes left, I think it will be perfect as a base for a "cheeta" mani

As I have been reading blogs and googleing nail polish, i come across brands I have never heard of, brands from other continents and countries.........I looooove to see pic's and swatches of these. I also have been enjoying reading comments about the 'Fabrege Eggs' of Nail polish, polishes that are dis-continued and polishes that are limited edition and rare. It is good to see all the 'frankens' and people using their creativity to re-create these types polishes!!!!!! (ie. the Zulu one)

~♥~ yessssss! New Nail Polish Shipment at awesome store!!! ~♥~

So before I take off my beautiful vibrant, but unfortunately named, "Purple Haze" I had to layer something over top of it. This is another pretty polish by the mysterious Billie Brand, two coats of "Majestic, which is layered over 2 coats of "Purple Haze"..... sorry, I cant find another main-stream polish to compare it to. I say it's like a rose gold, just more rose-ey. Like all polishes in this Brand, it dries to the touch in 5 min, even with 3 coats, this one though was pretty strong smelling, it might be because i slapped this on very early in the a.m.

It is very dark and gloomy here, with rain and strong winds, so no outside pic's today, but I captured the color well with these photos.

Last night I had the most lovely dream, that I walked into a discount store somewhere, in a far off land, and found bins and boxes full of mini nail polish bottles of all shapes and styles, with the most god-awful colors in them ( so I would not feel guilty pouring them away) But.... this is even better, I am absolutely delighted that my favorite .99 cent store got a shipment of inexpensive - but really good nail polish After picking up ten, the ladies who work there were kind enough to let me take pictures of their newest stock.

I am sorting them out on my computer this evening, but posting this lonely picture here in hopes that someone else will see them and run to their .99 cent store ( CANADA ? )to get some. I have already swatched them, but cannot get them onto blogger at the moment. I only bought 10 for myself.... yes I totally broke my not-buying-anything-till-May promise, but I did not want to pass these up.... The lovely ladies who work there say that they get snapped up really, really fast.

~ Yessssssssss! ~

Blogger is not letting me upload any more photo's at the moment, not sure whats go'in on, The ones I picked and have swatched are very nice, I picked out 4 glitters, but all 4 pretty much look the same.......Any hoo, onto the photo's, I am extremely eager to try out the orange polishes I picked up today!

When I think of neon I think =yuck, but I am really starting to like them, I picked up and orange neon, a green, a blue, and two pink neon's. I found two pink neon's that are not so in-your-face, as the one I wore the other day.

~♥~ Billie "Pink Pansy" ~♥~

Wow, brightness. That's all I can say about this one. This neon matte took 3 coats to get to opaque, this dries sooo fast, too fast. I think that is the only drawback for this polish. After doing dishes, tidying up, washing my hands a million times etc, only 1 tiny little chip on my index.
As for color, this is not the pretty, neon pink that other polish Co's have for their spring/ summer line up, this is the 1960's - 1970's psychedelic polyester shirt neon pink. Or, glow in the dark pink. This looks very much like that spray paint that construction companies mark the ground with before they start digging. Ironically this is called "Pink Pansy"....... there is nothing "pansy-ish" about this retina burning color. I have not seen any polish swatched , or even anything on Google images that is this bright. I'm not bragging= I would never ever wear this in public, hopefully I can tone it down to a more earthly Day-Glo pink, instead of this.

~♥~ Billie "Purple Haze" ~♥~

I scored these at the .99 cent store, and go back there every 2 or 3 days just to see if they got a shipment of nail goodies in. This polish dries ridiculously fast, so fast that before I even finish polishing each individual nail, it is beginning to dry, giving me smudge marks.... I hope to goodness that that store keeps getting this brand of polish, it's the same place I scored all my awesome Sally Hansen Nail Prism's....
This color 'Purple Haze", is a MATTE magenta, or neon purple, depending on the lighting, My best offering is that, when in - indoor lighting, it looks like these rad sneakers.

My outdoor photo's washed the color out a little, but I took a million outdoor pictures because it was soooo nice out this morning, spring is in the air, the birds were chirping and it smells so pretty outside, I need to get my 'out-door' time in, because soon our town will be swarming with miskeetoe's....

It has taken alot out of me to be wearing a Matte shade of polish - I want to add a nice shiny top coat to this, or even some glitter, I am starting to like this finish.... just a little. I think that for the rest of the week I will wear the other neon .99 cent store polishes that I got when I bought this one..... A neon theme week.

Gosh Dang-it !!!!!~ I totally take back everything I said ~

Sally Hansen "Mocha Madness" & "Dark Chocolate "

I totally regret saying that I would not buy any more polish until May 1st 2009. But, these we only .98 cents at the Grocery store, and I find Sally Hansen the best for Frankens,......and I need new "Franken" bottles, plus they were sitting there, all lonely, in the bargain bin, sooooooo...........

It's funny how since I started blogging I have found more "bargain" polish then ever before. I won't be running out of things to blog about for a long, long time.I have soooooooo many to wear and swatch. The only problem I have is that I don't have the room to support all these polishes and this weekend I am going to have to get creative with a storage solution. Should I really even be complaining about that? Shame on me ....... too much polish.

Well, I hope I can control myself for the rest of the month, next time I spot a good deal or a bargain, I think I should leave it for someone else.

Sally Haul ♥ China Glaze & Sally girl minis ♥

Like I need more nail polish...................

China Glaze ~ "For Audrey" and China Glaze "Watermelon rind"

There is no sun yet today, but I know that every blogger out there has "For Audrey and Watermelon Rind" swatched so if my fuzzy pic's don't do it for you, please Google it, they are both just gorgeous, and if you get the chance you won't be disappointed that you bought them.

Wow, CG "For Audrey" really is a beautiful color. I couldn't wait to paint my nails with it, so I just slapped it on top of my "deadly" fake nails I was sporting this weekend. In my earlier posts I was describing a polish I used to have by Sally Hansen, and this is a very close match. I am super happy I got this one. I also picked up Watermelon Rind, which is wow, just wow, I have seen both of these swatched a million times on blogs, but in person they really are something else,

I cant wait to paint my nails with the rest ofmy new goodies. And yes, I did say that I was not going to be buying any polish for awhile. But when I say it this time I mean it. I am putting myself out there, and saying that " I am a nail polish buying addict" I know I totally do not need any more, i have, like, 15 I have not worn in public yet.... so why do i buy more? This time i am serious, I will not buy any until May 1st!

Any hoo, here are the goodies I picked up for myself, plus a grinding stone that I got on sale for $1.39 CA ( for my electric nail file-thing )

Top Row ~ Sally Girl Mini's L to R ~

"Champagne Kisses",
"Way to Disco",
"Blissful Kiss"

Bottom Row ~ China Glaze L to R ~

"Shower Together"
"Sexy In The City"
"Grape Juice"
"Spontaneous"
"Watermelon Rind"
"For Audry"

In case anyone is curious ( i am )

Because of the sale they were buy one get one free, so they were 3.99 Canadian each... Which is cheaper than most of the drug stores/walmart around here, for good quality polish. As an example,

Sally Hansen Insta Dri, is $5.69 for 9.17 ml

in most stores here...... where as

China Glaze, was $ 3.99 for 14 ml

Insta dri, dries, really, really fast and they have beautiful colors. I will probably be picking up the white and black soon... eeeerrrr, ummmmm I mean in May.

.....And my Sally Beauty Card

The nearest Sally's Beauty Supply is 2 hours away in the "big city". Almost every major city in Canada has a beauty supply shop open to the public except for Manitoba, we just got one like, a few months ago.... isn't that sad? also they had no nail wheels, (the ones you use to display polish colors)

But I am grateful, I picked out some really pretty polishes, but I totally forgot to look for that stick thing that all the tutorial nail artists use when they are painting one single fake nail.... it is a clear Lucite stick, and somehow the acrylic nail stays in place while the do their work on it. Now that I need a picture of it, so possibly someone knows the"real' name of it, I cannot find one......

French Mani ( boring ~ but practical ) Fing'rs

So here are some shorter falsie's. I really love Fing'rs products but these guys always crack/split down the middle of my nail, like vertically. Weird, I know. And that would be okay except they end up being pretty sharp, and..... I yank out alot of hair buy accident this way. It's bizarre because they are not thin, and poorly made.... so I don't know whats up. I use alot of different brands of acrylic full coverage nails and This only happens with Fing'rs. And, it is not because === they are curved and my nail beds are flat,== I get good adhesion and they are suitably shaped for my nail beds...

(I am gonna try to incorporate more "props" into my photos )

( part of my stash of pre-painted false nails)

breakage...... after 1 3/4 days wear......... vertical splitting > ????

Close up

So every Fing'rs fake nails I have tried have done this.... and it's too bad because I really like the colors they have, they are wide for my nail beds and....... they look really pretty, and they have soo many cool finishes and nail art. Does this happen to anyone else?

I liked how the dark blue
metallic's were black underneath the free edge, but those metallic's were the worst offenders for my problem. I wonder if anyone else had this happen to them (time for some Internet sleuthing )

Here is a picture of my fake nail stash. When I purchase them, I take them out of the box because I would have no room to house, like, 40 boxes of fake nails. I had hoped to find some clear partitioned cases but couldn't..... so far.

( my stash of fake nails, and nail gems and stickers )

I don't have a picture of the box that I am wearing in the picture, but they are a fing'rs brand shorter sporty-type french manicure.... very pretty ( but dangerous, ha-ha )

So these are the nails I am talking about. I have these two, and I will get two sets of nails out of each package. I am a little cheesed off about the splitting down the middle thing, and I wish that the design was on all the nails, (it's only on 12 out of 36 in the package but whatever), they are very pretty... but I don't think I will be buying them again.

These are really cool full coverage fake nails... maybe I am just rediculously rough on them. I looooooove all the black ones and the ones with the tip nail-art on them. So don't just take my word for it. If they did'nt crack/split on me, I would totally buy them again.

I am really interested to see if this happens to anybody else
