~♥~ Sally Hansen 'Root Deep' & Awesome Nail Stickers~♥~

~♥~
The next two photos are after a few days of wear - doing dishes by hand, washing my hands a  million times and all the other around the house things I do. Next time I will cut the nail stickers just short of the side of my nail and make sure there is a gap and apply top coat to this area paying special attention to that gap.

So..... I am wearing two coats of Sally Hansen 'Root Deep' which is a bizarre name, that name should be on a deep dark polish ... like the 'Radish" I was using yesterday.... I think Someone fell asleep at the Sally Hansen Nail Polish labeling Machine.......

It took me a couple of days to get these going.... I have so many polishes lined up to wear, and only 10 fingers and 10 toes. These are the awesome stickers I received in a trade off from the lovely Brooke. WOW. These are awesome, they are thinner but stronger than most nail stickers without all the extra goo-eeeey glue that comes along with most nail stickers. I just slapped a coat of clear top-coat over these and they have held up well to my rigorous testing.

I was waiting around for another blogger to post about these before I decided if I wanted them or not. But I took a chance and they are working out very well ..... I am a happy girl. They are sooooo pretty, I know that there is better close up pictures available on the Companies web site. I wish stuff like this was available in the stores, like W-mart or where-ever.....

~♥~

{also I must add, that konad rock's, some of the things I am seeing are soooooo amazing! I think am gonna 'stick' to nail stickers for now, because I seriously have no room for anything else. }

 ~the stickers ~

Below is just Sally Hansen 'Root Deep' Two coats no TC, before I added these lovely nail stickers. I found another store in town, a small pharmacy with a little basket of bargain polishes... so I picked up a few. These will be great for frankening. I hope to get pics up soon of the rest of these Sally Hansen Bragain haul...... The pictures I take in the morning sun seem to wash color out a just a little, while the photos I take in the afternoon and evening seem to really showcase the colors and finishes better.

~♥~ Indulge Beauty 'Purple' ~♥~

~ 1st coats......1 coat of Indulge ' Purple ', RING finger, 1 coat of SH 'Radish' ~
~ Because of my crooked ring fingers, i always make a mess ~

Well, after going through all my pictures I realized that I have like 7 posts waiting to blog....... so I should get to it! Alot of the posts I have lined up I wanted to wait till I wore that polish again, and get better pictures, mostly in the sun where it is easier to see finishes and colors. When I have a gouge like this, I usually break out the glitter, or another polish to hide this. While I wanted to knock out all my 'weird' polishes in the next few weeks, I had planned to re-wear some of the ones where I did not get good pic's of..... but thats probably not gonna happen. I have at least 30 on my list of - Polish's to wear and blog about .

Another thing to mention, I love, love, looooove these super long nails! However I am always doing something crafty or around the house things that require a shorter nail, so they usually only stay this long for a day or two. Then chop-chop.

Here is another polish from my cute little mini's Indulge Beauty polish collection. None of these have their own name, they came in a little trio, this one is from the 'berry trio,' and I named it 'purple' a fitting name. This is a very pretty purple with blue shimmer. I was surprised with the quality of the brush on these polishes.

This is 3 coats, BUT I should have left it at 2 coats, because I totally gouged my middle finger, ( again with the middle finger.... geez! ) On my RING finger I have used Sally Hansen ' Radish ' which is a deep, deep, deep purple. Then 2 coats of the Indulge 'Purple' I have no idea why they would call this Sally Hansen polish 'Radish' if it is fierce deep purple? Weird. This Indulge polish is a very close dupe for Sally Hansen 'Diva', from the SH Teflon tuff line, ( I think it was teflon tuff. )

Oops, nope it was 'Sally Hansen New Lengths Ceramics in ' Diva'
~♥~

~♥~ Indulge Beauty - 'Red' ~♥~'

~♥~
MIDDLE finger = 1 coat of deep black polish & 1 coat of Indulge red, the rest are 2 coats of Indulge red with a shiny top coat. The nail decals came with my nailene fake toenails (can't remember which specific product )

~♥~

Since I will be skipping my usual evening activities to nurse my painful windburn, I am going to try to and post all these folders of photos I have hogging up space on my desktop. I had originally worn this polish a few weeks ago, I put a shiny top-coat on, all excited and ready for my photo-shoot, then I dinged and gouged it up - severely. I tried to salvage it with some nail stickers that I had. In the end, I had to take it off because it was just too beat up for a 20 minute old polish job. I totally should have skipped the Top-Coat, I usually do not add one, as I like to use a glitter the next day of my mani !!!!!!

I am sure to wear it again, as it dried very fast. It is very shiny on it's own and I am sorry that I added the top coat which was totally unnecessary and ruined my manicure (* tears *). This polish is a cheerful red with gold shimmer. The gold, red and chocolate polishes came together in a package, they are the 'Fudge Trio", while the pink, fuchsia, and purple came in a package together = the 'Berry Trio'. Along with these polishes, there was and Orange/Peach trio , and a french Manicure trio, ( white, pink, and clear ). I picked these ones and wish I bought them all......Really, really cute.

~ Please continue reading after the photo's for some super-exciting math and commentary!!!!!! ~

So a while ago, I wanted to practice some nail art, but I really suck at it and have given up, I am happy with nail stickers and glitter and such, so I have always been curious as to how many uses you can get from products, how many sandwiches can you make with a jar or mayonnaise, lip-gloss, Windex, whatever it may be. So I did a little experiment which you can further read about here,

~ I have used both of these mini polishes 3 times each, using 2 to 3 coats & swatching in my "home-made" nail swatches and a few drops for franken experiments ~

~♥~

If you use 2 coats of polish, which I feel should be all that is needed to achieve 'bottle color' or whatever effect = otherwise it will be a time consuming polish, for me that means including drying time, application and clean up, that specific polish just takes too much time to use, so I do not keep these around { and try not to buy them either } . Common volume's of polish seems to be 12 to 15 ml, so I used 13ml in my little experiment. A 13ml bottle of nail polish, applying 2 coats, and being moderately sloppy in application on your fingernails, will give approx. 40 applications. These Indulge minis are 5ml each, which means that I will get at least 15 applications from it, very likely more.When I am bored of them... FRANKEN, it's a win/win situation.

~ Ummmmmm, close, but this is a little too small ~

{ image from a miniature hobby site forum via goolge images }

~♥~

So depending on the quality of polish= ie; if it is very opaque, very thin and sheer etc. If it is 'two coat' coverage, you will likely get at least 40 applications from a 13 ml bottle . I personally have worn a specific nail polish 40 times, and so volume is not a baaaad thing , but I would rather see smaller quantities more accessible to me, in a quality polish so I can have more variety. That is why I am obsessed / in love with mini polishes. They take up less space,( which is really important for me right now), if I do not like it it is not a great loss, I can always franken or giveaway,

~♥~

Sheer polish can be very pretty, but I am not a fan of using just a sheer polish alone, I use sheers for layering. So I am mainly referring to two coat polishes which are likely to be opaque (/// I guess ??//// )

{ Just in case anyone is curious, in my town it is $10.00 to $14.00 for full sized O.P.I's. SH's are like $6.00- $9.00 Essie's are 13.00, Revlon, Rimmels.... are like $6.00.... To order things and get them here, is sometimes ridiculous.... But I am elated that I have my .99 cent store and other bargain-type shops close by where I have gotten extremely lucky..... SO IN NO WAY AM I COMPLAINING AT ALL! }

It really is rare for me to use up an entire bottle of nail polish (I would be more likely to give them away, or start chucking them before I finish them off...... ) I am happy that I have access to Sally Girl polishes now, they seem to have some unique colors that I would not buy a full bottle of. ( YELLOW ! ) The last three Claire's mini's I found were not that great, but I did make some nice frankens with them.I did notice though, that they seem to separate quickly..... so I will have to see what their shelf-life is......... Most mini nail polishes that are readily available to me at this moment are not that impressive.

In conclusion, I wish that we had a products like 'depend' cosmetics here in Canada.... they have beautiful current and unique colors in a perfect mini bottle! Mavala also has beautiful colors( Google it ) but I have only seen them in discount/ outlet stores, and only in deep reds and sheers....... Soooooooooooooo jealous of those!

~♥~ Indulge Beauty 'Pink' ~♥~

~♥~

I have already done a skittles of these polishes in my early blogging days,{ HERE, and HERE} all those decades ago, but I am currently trying to wear polishes that I have not worn for a while, polishes that I do not see often on the blogs or Google images = and now when I find older "Antique' polishes, I hope to get those on my nails and then on my blog too... ASAP!

~♥~

Here is the 'PINK' mini from my Indulge Beauty 'Berry Trio' polishes I found at Walmart in the wintertime. I have layered this over my antique polish Maybelline 'City Slick', and have just 2 coats of this pink polish on my MIDDLE finger. This is another bargain polish that was very good. It dries fast and has held up well. You may see if you enlarge my photos, I am not very delicate with my hands, I tend to be very busy and often walk into things with my arms a'swing'in......

~♥~

Here is a link to the Indulge beauty website.....= INDULGE BEAUTY= I love bargains, and so I am always happy to see companies hocking cheap beauty products, that actually turn out to be a decent product. and of course if you are following me... I am obsessed with tiny teeny mini nail polish bottles.... mini -anything, I love travel sized containers of common products . here is the link for a rad company my BF turned me onto...... MINIMUS... check it out, it is super-cool!

Apparently I cannot link to other sites today... so here you go; copy & paste ?

Any-hoo, onto my photos, sorry no sunshine, but now that I have seen that this looks really, really pretty layered over a dark polish, I definitely will be sporting this one again soon.

I hope to wear all of these polishes and post these all on my blog soon, I am sorry I did not purchase all this company had to offer at the time I first spotted because  these polishes turned out to be pretty good with long lasting wear.

~♥~ Maybelline ' City Slick '~♥~

~♥~

Here is another one of my $2.00 'Antique Polishes' from a store in my town that I had overlooked... I actually just went out for a bike ride one day, and thought I would pop in there....... I have since gone back and picked up a few cool bargains, and of course more Nail Polish.

For the longest time I was in love with Cover Girl Nail Slicks -" Midnight Metal". I wore it alot- because I really like metallic's on my toes...... but after many, many years, it got toooo thick and was dufficult to apply. I then started using it for jewelery where certain colors or finishes in costume jewelery did not do it for me. So if I bought a piece of costume jewelery that I loved, but did not care for or got bored the color of the crystals or stones in it I would use " Midnight Metal" to 'fix-it-up'

This Maybelline polish " City Slick" is a good dupe for Cover Girl "Midnight Metal" which is an older polish { an 'antique' polish } but it still dries to the touch in less than 1 minute!!!!! Lately I seem to mar my middle finger, almost immediately before my big photo shoot, and so I stuck on some nail gems that I had from the Dollar-rama, and did not notice all the fuzzzzzies that were stuck to the nail gems when I took these photos!..... DANG!

I am never gonna make-it in the nail blog big leagues if stuff like this keeps happening to me.

~♥~

Oh well, onto the photo's... I hope to encourage other people out there to get out there older polishes and start swatching..... and polishes that are obscure or odd..... One of the French Bloggers uses the term 'Fogey Polish' TM for polishes that are older....I thought that was really cute.... a 12 year old polish really is old, ancient.... but if it still applies well, and wears well Then that's rad. Very few beauty products have a shelf life like nail polish... so sometimes it is a good investment.

I like the term ' Antique Polish ' better, I think it is more lady-like.

I am sorry if I am torturing people with the bargains I seem to come across, but I have some built-in bargain radar... I got that from my mom!

~♥~ Maybelline ' New Years Blues '~♥~

~ 2 Coats & Top Coat ~
~♥~

Wow it's been a while since I added something to my blog.......Sorry! I know I absolutely love it when I turn my computer on and there is a few nail blogs to look at full of pretty swatches and such & new product reviews so; THANK YOU!!!!! Here is my contribution to the world!
~♥~
I have been a busy, busy girl. There are several home repairs that I am currently working on, and I have accomplished alot so far. My hands are in a terrible state as I have used some harsh products and glues, which the glue is still stuck on me skin 4 days later! Hopefully by the end of the weekend I will be in a better state for my "hand-modeling"

Any-hoo, This is a beautiful Maybelline polish which I had hoped to re-wear and take photos of again, something about my photo's this time just isn't right.... I am so critical of my "work" { ha-ha} The sun has rarely been out, and when it has been latley I am in no shape for modeling. I found this polish at a store in town I have not been to for over 2 years, I was elated to find these polishes and some false nails and Party Toez, which you can read about in my previous post. Maybelline 'New Years Blues" is a stormy deep blue, with the tiny-est teal glitter..... sooooo pretttttty. It is an older polish that I scored for $2.00!!!!! It dried within 1 minute but was a little thick and probably needs some lacquer thinner. This is 2 coats with a clear TC.

In the next little while I hope to swatch polishes that are not all over the nail blogs or ones that can be found on on Goggle images, and so I am gonna put some effort into modeling & then blogging about polishes that have not seen swatched. Some that are sorta not popular or common, and polishes that so far I have not seen anywhere else, and that are possibly Canadian only.... { "Possibly Canadian" sounds kinda like a bad thing, but its not... }

I thought I was on top of what kind of polish companies and brands of polish, and make-up and -everything really- are out there, but I have found alot of companies and brands because other blogs have shown this stuff... swatches, product reviews etc. I have not and do not see myself taking the word of a magazine or Company or whatever in order to try something new..... I am going for personal reviews and testimony from now on { From ~YOU~ }........... and... end of rant!
