I saw something similar to this just 2 days ago and wanted to copy - Emerald Sparkled's 'Ruffian Inspired' Mani. I think she may have done this free-hand- which is very impressive. I have done the opposite, putting the darker color at the base of my nail. I think this looks super-cool; and will try it with a lighter color towards the base of my nail and a darker color on top.
after inserting the little copy card into the computer I marred my middle finger nail - 1 out of every 3 times that i touch that little card, i mess up my Mani.....if not in the camera, in the computer.
I did this by applying 'reifinder' or 're-binders' or whatever people call them to create a circular area at the base of my nail, and then used 2 super-duper thin coats of Sally Hansen 'Raven' a shiny solid black. When it was dry i removed the 'refinders' which left a tonne of gooey paper behind. so i had to wait even longer to wash my hands and pick off the little pieces of paper. Then I filled in any sparse area, buffed raised edges, and applied 2 coats of Nailene Top Coat.
All my photos are indoors under fluorescent lighting.... its friggen freezing outside! Having that huge gouge that i tried to 'cover-up' is driving me nuts so i am changing this Mani right away.
Nice work, my dear =)
In the beginning I also tried to do the crescent in the bottom afterwards, but it didn't work so well. Then it dawned on me.
I started with the color of the crescent first and applied it on the whole nail. Then I applied the purple on top. I didn't have to use stickers that way... I put it on just like putting on regular polish, only stopping not in the bottom but it in the middle, and freehanding the curve I would normally do. I had a coat of quick dry topcoat underneath, right on top of the gold color, so I could correct the imperfections using a small brush dipped in actone =)
oooooohhhhhhh - i will try it like that when i copy it again.....
I thought I was getting crazy when I used your method first, but then I hopelessly tried the other way before giving up - and it worked like a charm!!! =D
That looks awesome!!!
That is awesome. Hole reinforcements FTW!
ah ha! i love it!
I love the way you update your manis. And what a cooooool result! Awesome.
That's very original ! I love it, I may copy it :)
I love the idea of using hole reinforcements <3
I am definitely going to try this :)
I love this look. I used to have a box of the reinforcements but threw them away. Great idea to use them.
I love how this looks! I've seen a couple different people try the metallic as the crescent portion but making it black looks awesome! I really wanna try this manicure out and I'll definitely try it as soon as I get some of those reinforcement stickers. I didn't wanna freehand it and couldn't think of a good way to make that curve haha
btw thanks for following my blog! you're my first follower and I was soooooo excited when I saw haha =)
